Frequently asked Questions. 💭

Here are some of the questions we get a lot. If you have a question not answered below, feel free to email hey@counterculturewealth.com and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.

How long does it take to complete a plan?

It takes most clients 4-6 weeks to complete the entire process, whether planning alone or with a special someone. This includes two virtual meetings, a little data gathering and homework on your end, and a few email exchanges with me. The total time commitment averages around 4-6 hours for most people.

"Could you give me a second opinion on what my current financial has set up for me?"

Oh yeah, this is one of my favorite things to do! Getting a second opinion would fall under my financial plan offering. Same process, too - you would just send over any plans, insurance policies, investment statements, etc. in Step 1 of getting started together.

"Do I have to sign up for an ongoing relationship?"

It's totally up to you. Our ongoing relationship is for folks who want to delegate the implementation of their plan our way and stay on top of their finances moving forward. You are welcome to manage things on your own. No pressure from us either way, whether you delegate or DIY.

"What does it cost to keep working together after I get my plan?"

Great question! For folks who choose to become full-time clients, we charge flat monthly fees (subscriptions) for continued planning and advice, and a %-based fee for any investments we manage for you.

Our subscription fees start at $100 per month for individuals and $150 for couples. As with our financial plans, we typically charge extra for folks paid employee stock (+$50) and business owners (+$100-200).

Our investment management fee is 0.5% per year, no matter how much (or little) money you have with us. For context, this is about half of the average fee advisors charge to manage investments.

"Do you have an investment minimum?"

Absolutely not. One of our founding principles was making financial advice more accessible, not less. We recognize most Americans do not have $500K to $1M+ lying around waiting to be managed. We believe that with good advice, discipline, and enough time, we can help all of our clients get to that point.

"Are meetings in person?"

All meetings are held virtually via Google Meet. Keeping things virtual allows us to serve more clients across the country, which is what we're all about! That said, one of my favorite things to do is grab coffee with clients who happen to live around/happen to be visiting the Twin Cities! ☕️

"Can you help me with my student loans?"

Oh yeah. Student loans are a common pain point for our clients, so handling them is one of our specialties. We will help you navigate your plan to pay it off, refinancing, consolidation, and how to manage paydown with future goals.

Stop being so American with your money.
